Look up!

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is a big city with way too much traffic. For 25 years I lived the kind of life that has lots of appointments per day. During one of my many travels through South America, my profound weakness for beauty and technical precision met Space and all its wonders. It was my first time meeting the Milky Way and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. All the magic I had ever needed had been right above my head since the beginning. Years have gone by since that moment and it has come to the point that I count down the hours to see Orion rise in winter and the minutes left for Jupiter to show itself in summer after dawn. I embrace the overwhelming darkness of a moonless night with the same joy I feel when my torch become useless, as its full phase shines bright. Every decision I’ve made since I fell hard for the stars has been towards getting away from light pollution and closer to them, so believe me when I say that I am certifiably in love with Nature and the opportunities it provides for a better, more peaceful and happy life. I have come to understand that there is something unique about living and working out in Nature that drives me, fueling my very core. So please, join me on my daily quest for magic !

Why did you become guide ?
I become a guide a few years ago, basically out of pure love for the night sky. When I was 20, I found a new hobby: Astronomy. But I could not practice it surrounded by the bright lights of the city I lived at, so eventually astronomy became a passion for wilderness itself. For the magic of starry nights. For the thrill of wild landscapes, and the adventure that consequently follows finding such places. Looking back, this was the first of a long line of decisions that would end up with me living in the Swedish Arctic, becoming a Wilderness Guide, and stargaze, as I always wanted.

Why makes your job so exceptional ?
Having the chance to work and live sorrounded by nature, it’s one of the most beautiful things in life. And a decision I do not regret at all.

What is the most memorable expedition you took part of ?
My first winter expedition will always be the most memorable. We went Ice Fishing for 2 nights into the Scandinavian Mountains, as a “test-drive” for a new product launch. Bags packed, happy faces, and very high hopes for northern lights. After a rough start with very little fish, some strong blowing winds, and temperatures of -25 degrees, the night cleared up showing a mesmerizing magnetic activity that filled the sky like dust and eventually, what started as a harsh cold trip, ended up being lit around midnight and warming our hearts by the most amazing auroras I’ve yet had the chance to witness. Needless to say, I had peaceful dreams that night.

What is your favorite meal ?
I love “milanesas”, a typical Argentinian dish. Is very similar to the Austrian wiener schnitzel, or the Italian cotoletta alla Milanese, but the Argentinian version has something special that reminds me of home.

What inspires you the most in life?
Exploring and going on new adventures. It reminds me that magic is still out there, and yet to be discovered.

If you were a city or an animal, which one would you be ?
Animal: untammed horse, because of it’s wild yet majestic nature.
City: I don’t tend to like big cities, but I had to choose one, it would be Perugia, in the Umbria Region, center of Italy. This region presents mainly hills, mountains, hollows and plains and extends along the Tiber’s central basin and it is full of antique fortresses and medieval towers. It really reminds me of those middle age fiction movies, which I love.

Suggestions d’aventure.
